Alex working with Tony Milvain

“It’s been 12 years since my stroke left much of body paralysed. I’ve been to various rehabilitation centres and gyms, making a slow but steady recovery progress. I was then recommended to see Alex some 2 years ago.

“Since then Alex has worked on, and is continuing to do so to great effect, my many weaknesses. His enthusiastic and empathetic approach to both my physical and mental needs is outstanding.

“I am amazed at what progress I have made in the relatively short period I have been training with Alex and have no qualms in recommending his work to anyone. My only regret is that I hadn’t come across someone like Alex earlier!” Tony Milvain, Stow on the Wold, 2009

I have been working with Tony now for over 9 years, and it is a fantastic example of how and why personal training can be so effective.

Over the years, our work together has progressed from basic strength, flexibility and working with new movement patterns to more advanced neuromuscular coordination and development of neural pathways.

A huge part of Tony’s success has been down to his dedication and the huge amount of effort he puts in to each and every one of his sessions, not to mention the work he does on his own.

A fair amount of stubbornness hasn’t done any harm either! I have really enjoyed working with Tony and the progress he has made is genuinely inspiring.

I look forward to continuing with our success!

“I started training with Alex in 2004. I started with a friend who wanted to strengthen her arm after an operation, but did not want to go on her own. I went along with her thinking I would stay a few months and leave after she settled in, after all I was a size 24 and the gym was not really my kind of place!

“We were both made to feel very welcome, and even the initial assessment was made fun and by no means embarrassing for someone of my size. Once we had answered all the questions, we were given some great suggestions, and the sessions and time flew by!

“So here I am, now a size 12 and a whole lot fitter – I can now run 5km, amazing for someone who would never run! Every session is fun with Alex and he is always very encouraging and even on days when I don’t feel like training I am always glad I have gone.” Susan Childe, Upper Rissington

The change in Sue since she started training with me has been absolutely fantastic. She looks great; her confidence has improved no end from the lady that first joined the gym for a few months all those years ago! Sue has also worked incredibly hard for her success, and deserves everything she has achieved.

As you can see from these two examples, personal training can work equally well whether it is for injury rehabilitation or weight loss and fitness. If you are lacking in confidence, have an injury worry or lack motivation, come and have a chat – everyone has to start somewhere and personal training could be the answer you have been looking for.

A thorough assessment is carried out before starting any training programme. This is a great opportunity to discuss concerns or worries, goals and aims and get a feel for what personal training sessions are all about.

Your training will develop along with your fitness. As you reach certain goals and targets, so your training will advance to keep challenging the body and to keep things progressing.

Personal training with me is available at my gym, Cotswolds Health and Fitness Club, based in Bourton on the Water.
